At the outset, let me wish you a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2012! I am thrilled to announce the publication of the very first issue of the 'Journal of Dental and Allied Sciences' (JDAS), an official publication of Sinhgad Dental College and Hospital, Pune. This peer reviewed journal will provide a platform for many clinicians and academicians to share their knowledge which will contribute to the field of dentistry. It is gratifying to see that our resolve of including only those scientific articles of the highest merit and pedigree has not faltered.We will continuously strive to present the best and latest research in dental & allied sciences, and rare case reports. We will also be presenting this journal in the electronic format very soon for easier access and exchange of information. During the process of publishing this journal, there have been many helping hands that deservedly need special mention:
First and foremost, I sincerely thank Prof. M.N. Navale (Founder-President, STES) and Dr.(Mrs.) Sunanda Navale (Founder-Secretary, STES) for their constant support and encouragement.
I would like to express my gratitude towards our Principal, Dr. Shailesh Lele for entrusting me with the responsibility of being the Editor-In-Chief of this journal.
And last but certainly not the least; I would like to congratulate the Advisory and Editorial Board members, without whom this journal would not have seen the light of the day.
